Snow Idea What’s Going On…
Posted by Boundary Community Launderette on 03/12/2010
A few flakes of snow and everything – apart from your trusty, ever-reliable community launderette – slows down or stops! We’ve searched high and low for free events this weekend, but the weather appears to have put a stop to a lot of things.
If you’re undaunted by the weather and want to revel in the winter wonderland feeling, you can always wrap up warm and head off to the Tower Hamlets Cemetery Park, which this week won the award for Most Innovative Biodiversity Project at the London Tree and Woodland Awards. It’s a fantastic space at any time of the year but is particularly magical covered in snow, when the woodland walks and amazing vistas really do make you forget in you’re in the middle of Tower Hamlets! http://www.towerhamletscemetery.org/
If, however, you want to get out but to go somewhere warm, don’t forget that there are loads of museums and galleries within an easy distance of the Boundary, and buses in central London all seem to be operating normally. The East London Line Overground – ‘Cultureline’ – is fast and warm, and there are 10 museums along its route. Check out our links to get some more ideas, or scroll down the home page to see other suggestions from recent weeks.
Don’t forget we also have links to Tower Hamlets & Hackney councils, London Transport and many other organisations you may find useful. If you have any elderly, disabled or vulnerable neighbours don’t forget to see if they’re alright or need any help – this weather can be pretty scary for some!
We’ll keep you updated here and on our facebook page if we have to change the opening hours of the launderette, and if we have any helpful ideas or information. You can subscribe to the blog to get our posts direct to your email inbox. Don’t forget that we want ideas on charitable organisations who you think we should donate money raised on the bookstall. We’re extending the deadline until Sunday 5th December, so email us with your ideas – firstname.lastname@example.org
