The Boundary Community Launderette – We’re Not Just About Clean Undies!
Posted by Boundary Community Launderette on 19/01/2011
Our website and facebook page have proved extremely popular since we started them, and in just six months the web pages have had more than 7,000 hits, and we’ve got 140 facebook fans too! A huge thanks to everyone whose signed up, we are truly amazed that so many people have shown interest. We hope we’re providing you with all the information you need, and that there are some pages of interest on the website in particular. Our remit is to be a community resource for the Boundary estate and local area, and the web can help us broaden that role. We want to use the website and our facebook page to not only keep you informed on launderette matters, (few and dull as they are!), but to also provide a little bit of history and information about the unique Boundary Estate and surrounding neighbourhood, and to provide useful links to a wide range of local organisations. Each week we also search for free and interesting events in the area, or just a short bus or overground journey away, to highlight the open spaces and places of interest close by. If there are any features, links or information you feel we should provide then please let us know via the form below.
We’re really pleased and proud how many people recognise that we are quite a special launderette: a not-for profit community enterprise. Having been set up by and for local residents gives us a strong role within our community, the wonderful support that we received last year during the rent campaign proved that residents still value their launderette. We have a strong belief in our community and in equal opportunity, not only in theory but also in practice. Despite uncertain times ahead and the rapid changes happening all around our neighbourhood, you can depend on the Boundary Estate Community Launderette. We’re not just here for the weekly wash and dry, we’re here for the community. So tell all your friends about us – suggest us to them on facebook and/or send them a link to the website wherever they are in the world.
Also – we’re still in need of BOOKS! If you could search around the pesky critters, round ’em up and deliver them to us, we’d be really grateful. Don’t forget that 100% of money raised is passed on to good causes nominated by your good selves!
