Anniversary, Books, Charitable donations.

It’s the first anniversary of our website going live, and we’ve had an amazing response. There have been over 19,700 hits on the pages in the past 12 months, and the vast majority of visitors seem to like what they see. So Thank you to everyone who visits our pages and to those of you who have subscribed to the blog, and shared and re-tweeted pages.
We’ve tried to make the pages relevant to our neighbourhood with the weekly blog providing information, and giving details of free local events, and the links to local services and places of interest. We’ll continue to keep you updated and informed, and look forward to the next 12 months of posting and blogging.
The Bookstall is continuing to be a great favourite with customers of the launderette and local book-lovers. We want to thank everyone who donates the books and buys the books, you’ve helped raise over £150 in the past year.
We’ve just had a lovely donation of quite a few books, they’ll be out on the shelves later in the week. We do get some fantastic books donated, on a whole range of subjects from art appreciation to Zen Buddhism, and every genre of fiction from Mills & Boon to 19th century classics. Even if you don’t need to use the launderette for laundry, pop in and check out the books. Every penny raised goes directly to good causes.
We’re making the latest charitable donations from the money raised by the bookstall – a total of £60 since April – thank you! The Disaster’s Emergency Committee have an appeal for a humanitarian crisis, the East African drought. We’ll be donating £40 to this, and we’ve donated £20 to the Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children Cancer Appeal, through the Friends of Arnold Circus carrom day held on 19th June.
The bookstall also raised a total of £50 for the Red Cross/Red Crescent Japan Tsunami appeal in March, and the launderette donated the service fee charges over a six-week period, a total of £479.
So, our dear customers and friends, we’ve a lot to thank you for. Your continuing custom and support, visiting our website and facebook pages, and donating books and money to our bookstall. We’ll be back at the end of the week with our info on free events, which will include something rather lovely on Arnold Circus!
