Donations, Decor and our Marvellous Manager Maire

Posted by Boundary Community Launderette on 14/12/2011

We’re proud to say that the bookstall has raised well over £60 in the past few months, and this month we will be donating £30 to the two following organisations:

The Spitalfields Crypt Trust has centres and houses across east London, including one at Shoreditch Church. SCT provides a range of high-quality support, rehabilitation and training services for vulnerable and homeless adults and those struggling with addiction to drugs or alcohol. Together their projects form a ‘complete recovery pathway’ with drop-in centres through to back-to-work employment schemes. See their website for more information.

Crisis at Christmas has provided vital services for homeless people for 40 years. They need our help more than ever to end homelessness for good. Crisis operates year-round for homeless people. Visit their website for more information on the Christmas project and their year-round work.

As many of our customers and friends know, Maire our manager has been off since late October recovering from a knee operation. Maire is doing well, but it’s taking a little longer than expected for her knee to recover so that she can come back to work. She’s hoping to be back at work by mid-January – resting and staying at home isn’t her style as she’s longing to come back. We all miss her and can’t wait for her to come back to work, she’s been working for us since we opened and she’s a great part of our community.

Those of you who use the launderette have been kind enough to say you like our new colour scheme, and how much brighter it looks. Thank you! There are still a few things that need to be done, Mark and James will be back over the next few weeks to do the work for us.
