We Want Summer!

Posted by Boundary Community Launderette on 12/07/2012

We’re still recovering from our lovely day trip to Manchester to collect the Creme of Nature Community Action Award, so our things to do for free blog is a little shorter than usual. (We’ll let you know all about our day up north in a special blog next week). We’ve still managed to find some great things to keep you amused for free, so whatever the weather enjoy your weekend! Check through our recent ‘What’s On’ pages for more ideas and we’ve got some great links to other free places to visit locally on the right of our webpage. Whatever you do have a great weekend – don’t forget that we do service washes so you can make the most of your time.

The Shoreditch Festival kicks off in style this Saturday, 14th July, with the Hoxton Street Party from 10am until late. There is truly something for everyone, with games, music, dancing and performance. Check out the Hoxton Street Party webpage for more information.

Spitalfields Farm is holding a Strawberry Fayre on Sunday 15th July from 10am until 4pm, celebrating the wonderful summer fruit. There will be a strawberry forage and plant sale plus  a cooking demonstration of Bangladeshi rice pudding, an edible garden tour, storytelling and an eco-chic market, all to the sounds of bluegrass and folk music. You could also pop along and visit the animals and the Eco-Chic Market whilst you’re on the farm. See the Farm Website for more information.

Also on Sunday 15th July the Shoreditch Bark Dog Show, (part of the Shoreditch Festival),  takes place in the Shoreditch Park Amphitheatre at 2pm. There are categories from ‘Waggiest Tail’ to ‘Hoxton’s Hottest Dog’, plus free advice on how to look after your canine companion from Canonbury Veterinary Practice. If you want to take enter the competition you must register in advance. Check the website for full details.
