Another Monday Morning…

Posted by Boundary Community Launderette on 17/09/2012

It’s a lovely autumn morning, not a bad way to start a new week.  Last Friday marked the day the launderette opened 20 years ago – 14th September 1992 – and our marvellous manager, Maire, has worked with us all that time! Two of the original voluntary directors – Jean and Philip – are still at the helm too and, together with the other voluntary director Anita, work hard to keep the launderette open, welcoming and available to everyone.  You can find out the history of our launderette on this webpage.

Jean, Maire and our new machine – which customers & friends helped us win the funding for!

We’ve now got a lovely new book trolley for the second-hand books many of our lovely customers kindly donate and buy. Every single penny goes to good causes, many suggested by customers, with admin costs, etc., met by the launderette. So, if you have any books that you no longer want pop them in to us – they’ll help pass the time for customers doing their laundry and will find good homes too!

Our Lovely New Book Trolley.

So, all spruced up with a new machine, new service wash storage shelves and a new book trolley – here’s to the future! Thank you to all our lovely customers and friends past and present, and to the small group of determined and community-minded people who worked tirelessly to ensure the launderette opened 20 years ago, and those who continue to keep it funded and open.
